OPPOSE HOLTON-ARMS EXPANSION APPLICATION

OPPOSE HOLTON-ARMS EXPANSION APPLICATIONOPPOSE HOLTON-ARMS EXPANSION APPLICATIONOPPOSE HOLTON-ARMS EXPANSION APPLICATION

Holton-Arms School, has filed a request with the County (Case CBA-1174-E) for a major expansion of its operations

THE PROPOSAL INCLUDES

  • Student Increased Enrollment
    • Increase cap from 670 to 870 students (a 30% jump).

  • Summer Camp Increased Enrollment
    • Increase cap from 665 to 970 campers (a 46% jump).
    • This would mean more campers than students during the summer.

  • Allow Weekend/After-School Rentals
    • Remove the current restrictions on rental of school facilities to outside organizations
    • Allow outside groups of up to 870 to rent facilities for activities of their choosing
    • Holton-Arms would not be required to monitor or limit what types of events take place.

  • Granger House (an auxiliary administrative house used as an office)
    • Make Granger House a permanent office, instead of reverting to residential us
  • Future Entrances/Exits
    • While Holton-Arms claims no new entrances/exits are planned right now, they will not rule out adding them later.

Why this ALL Matters to YOU

  • Traffic & Parking: A sharp rise in daily traffic with no mandatory traffic management plan
  • Noise & Neighborhood Impact: More people, more activities, and unlimited, unrestricted rentals mean more disruptionson weekends and evenings
  • Holton and their attorneys have refused to commit to “no new entrances” after being asked on multiple times. Once capacity increases their current entrance will be even more congested than we face now. It’s reasonable to expect they will ask for additional entrances.
